WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO BOOTCAMP ON MY FIRST DAY?
To each bootcamp class you will need to bring: 1) bottled water to drink, 2) a medium-sized or large towel to place under your knees, back or head while you exercise, and 3) bicycling or weight-lifting gloves without the fingers to protect your hands while you do push-ups and other physical activities. The gloves may be purchased at any bicycle shop, gym or sporting goods store and cost about $15.
MAY I BRING MY BELONGINGS TO BOOTCAMP?
Yes. We are not a traveling bootcamp. All belongings are placed together at the workout location and the trainer keeps an eye on them while you run and move around.
DO YOU HAVE CHANGING FACILITIES OR RESTROOMS?
No. Please come ready to exercise. Sometimes in the areas where we workout, there are restrooms within jogging distance.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO BOOTCAMP?
Wear comfortable workout clothes (shorts, sweats, t-shirt, etc.). Make sure you dress appropriately for the weather.
WHAT TYPES OF EXERCISES ARE INVOLVED?
You can definitely expect core exercises such as squats, lunges, sit-ups, push-ups, and running. A variety of other exercises will be included as part of your training.
WHAT HAPPENS IF A CLASS IS CANCELLED BECAUSE OF WEATHER?
You will be notified at least 30 minutes before bootcamp start time via text message to your cell phone. When you registered for bootcamp, you should have submitted your cell phone number; however, if you did not, please email your cell phone number to email@example.com and include which bootcamp you are attending. A cancelled bootcamp will be rescheduled at a later date, usually to the week following your 3-week session.
WHAT IF I HAVE TO MISS A CLASS BECAUSE I AM SICK, VACATIONING OR HAVE TO TRAVEL FOR WORK?
For outdoor retail classes in New York City, we typically have one central make up class during your session on the weekend. Details about this class are emailed to you after you register. We are flexible as well, so if you cannot attend the make up class, email to firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements to attend a class at a different time or location during your session. For outdoor and indoor retail programs and corporate programs, all make ups must be made up during your session. Usually there are no formal make up classes offered during corporate programs.
I'M REALLY OUT OF SHAPE, WILL I BE ABLE TO KEEP UP WITH THE BOOTCAMP?
Yes. Your trainers assess your fitness level on the first day. Your trainer may ask you to modify exercises until you build up enough strength. Don't worry, you will not be holding others in the bootcamp class back. Our trainers are professionals, and make sure that everyone is pushing their bodies to the maximum potential to reach their goals and the next fitness level.
I'M A VERY EXPERIENCED ATHLETE YET I WANT TO MAINTAIN MY LEVEL OF FITNESS OR MAYBE BUILD-UP MY STAMINA. IS BOOTCAMP GOING TO BE CHALLENGING ENOUGH FOR ME?
Yes, absolutely. We have many athletes, triathletes, and marathon runners take our bootcamps. Please let your trainer know if you are cross-training for an event. Your trainer will make sure that you receive the correct level of workout. For example, instead of doing squat thrusts, your trainer may ask you to do squat thrusts with a push-up. If you are ever taking our bootcamp and do not feel that you are being challenged enough, immediately tell the trainer and he or she will gladly kick your workout up more notches just for you!
WILL TRAINERS YELL AT ME OR EMBARRASS ME IN FRONT OF THE CLASS?
No. Your trainers are friendly yet tough. Trainers are there to motivate and encourage you.
I'M TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT AND GET IN SHAPE FOR A WEDDING. WILL BOOTCAMP HELP ME DO THIS?
Think about what type of exercise you are doing currently. Now think about taking bootcamp where you are exercising at an intense level for 1.5 hours two times per week. You will see a difference in your body. You need to start as early as possible before your event and you may need to take more than one 3-week bootcamp session to reach the results that you want.
I AM OVERWEIGHT AND SELF-CONSCIOUS ABOUT IT. WILL THERE BE OTHER OVERWEIGHT PEOPLE AT YOUR BOOTCAMP?
There will most likely be other people just like you at bootcamp. Bootcamp is specifically designed to put you in an encouraging group environment with your peers who also want to get in shape.
I'M IN MY 40'S. WHAT IS THE TYPICAL AGE OF SOMEONE TAKING YOUR BOOTCAMP?
Bootcamp is a team environment regardless of age. Typically in urban cities we see the majority of our clients in their 20's to 30's and some in their 40's, 50's and 60's. We encourage everyone to take bootcamp because there is no age where you should stop being fit.
WHAT IF I HAVE A PRE-EXISTING INJURY OR MEDICAL CONDITION?
You must disclose all of your injuries and medical conditions when you register. In most situations, trainers can usually modify exercises. Please read our Terms and Conditions which appear on the Sign Up page.
